When I was in America in 1996, my friend Marcel bought a camera and started taking pictures of our trip. I was impressed by his courage to try something new.

During my stay in Australia, in the year 1998, I bought my own camera and started taking photos too. Back then, cameras used film, and I had to decide whether to buy 100, 200, or 400 DIN films – it was all new to me. I got my first digital camera in 2003, while I was in Botswana, and I’ve been capturing life’s moments through my camera lens ever since. To me, photography is about the heart. I try to capture the power of the moment and the atmosphere of everyday life for ordinary people in my photos.
